WIP - Lucy Rose... the paints come out at last!

Lucy Rose WIP

I managed to snatch a few hours here and there at my drawing board this week, not on my dragon spread which is still patiently waiting for some paint to give the creature life and substance and moon-frosted dragon breath... but on a little commission that's been tucked away in the back of my mind as the deadline creeps up on me!
She's nearly finished, just a few more tweaks, a couple more hours maybe but that needs to wait for another night when my eyes have rested enough to see what needs to be done next!
Here are a few work in progress shots along the way...

The little girl's Granny has commissioned this for her birthday, I do hope she'll like it... its always a little differant painting a child I haven't met compared to painting a child I know well... we'll soon see if I got her right! I hope she likes Unicorns!

  3. The detail in these are just so beautiful Carrie, I have also just had a look at your entry in the LAC comp, it is fabulous. I love it. I am doing the same course as you but struggle with working from my imagination which you certainly do not. Your 'Once upon a Starlight' is stunning. I can feel the cool of the night and the wind as they fly through the air.. I know we will see more of your work on the book shop shelves in the not too distant future.

  4. Thanks folks! She's finally finished now and will be collected later this week!!! Hope it goes down well...

And Aisling, I was really pleased to see your painting get selected as one of the finalists - I love that painting, fingers crossed for you!
I've been doing my course for a long, long time now... it coincided with setting up our own business which completely took over, so I'm still trying to claw back time to get on with the coursework! Hope yours is going well :)

  5. Hi Carrie, I am certain that it will go down well. I am sure they will be thrilled with it. BTW Where did you see that my painting was selected as a finalist, I have been looking on the college news page and have not seen the competition mentioned at all.
Isn't it so hard to get time to everything, we are all so busy nowadays. I need to give myself a good talking to and get back to my course too.

  6. Aisling - Oh yes, they don't seem to have posted the finalists on the college news do they... I had a link to the competition paged saved, but I think you can get to it by going to the 'information' bar and then 'Art competition' or try this:

Anyway, well done! Wonder why they haven't put it on the news?
